Travelling into Prague

Prague's Ruzyne International Airport is one of the major Airports in Czech Republic. It is situated 20 km northwest from the city centre and it's a 30 minutes drive if one is taking the road. The airport has daily flights to various European countries and also to American cities and the passenger air-transport service provide attractive economic packages during the peak tourism seasons. The national carriers such as Czech airlines offer its services to many European nations and also various American cities such as New York, Toronto, New Jersey, and California etc. Some private airline companies provide cheap air services such as east jet, Ryan air, BMI baby from United Kingdom, Smart wings from continental European countries, Sky Europe and sterling from Scandinavian countries. The city of Prague is well connected by a vast network of well-laid and well-maintained roads. The Prague city can be reached with ease by bus or car. Florenc, Krizikova is the main bus terminus in the city of Prague. Tourist can reach other European countries without difficulty through buses leaving from this terminus. Major European nations are connected to Prague by Eurolines. How ever in some parts of Prague the highway network is not established properly and some remote tourist destinations cannot be reached easily. Some bridges, which are vital to control traffic, are still under constructions.

Travelling around Prague

Metro railway is the most efficient mode of transport to get around the city. They operate from morning 4 a.m. until midnight. Over 400 million people use the Metro transport services each year. There are three underground lines, which cover almost every corner of the city. The metro system covers long distances in a matter of minutes. There are over 50 underground stations and the train service offers trains at 2 to 3 minutes intervals during peak hours and at 10 minutes intervals during night time.

Prague has over 500 kms of tram tracks and it covers almost all parts of Prague. Trams operate both during daytime as well as during nighttime. Daytime trams operate from 4.30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and nighttime trams operate from 12.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. daytime trams operate at a frequency of 8 to 10 minute intervals.
